Fair Trade Campaign
WASC is proud to be raising awareness for Fair Trade products, such as fairly traded coffee and chocolate. Each of these wonderful products are not only enjoyable, but can be part of economic and educational development around the world. WASC supports the aim of Fair Trade to offer fair prices and wages for laborers around the world, educational opportunities, democracy in the workplace, gender equality, environmental sustainability, and promoting a stronger voice for individuals involved in all stages of the marketing process!
To support this, part of our on-going fundraising campaign is to offer Fairly Traded, Shade Grown, Organic coffees from Just Coffee Coop in Madison, WI. We sell the following blends, freshly roasted before the time of sale (not kept on the shelf for months!) in the hope of spreading the Fair Trade message!
Due to the popularity of our Fair Trade Coffee Campaign last year, WASC is continuing
our campaign this year, offering three excellent varieties of freshly roasted, whole bean,
fair trade, organic, shade grown coffee!
Varieties include:
Sustain Yourself Blend: dark Peruvian roast (Pangoa Growers Cooperative)
WAKE UP! Blend: dark Bolivian roast (AIPEP Growers Cooperative)
Relax (a bit) Blend: blend of Mexican regular (La RED Growers Cooperative) and
Dominican Republic (FEDECARES Growers Cooperative) decaffeinated coffees
Price (for all varieties): $8.50 / 12 oz. bag – Whole Bean
All proceeds support WASC’s activity and scholarship funds. We are a student group at WIU
dedicated to our “One World. One People” theme, working for social understanding,
international cultures, and global social justice. With Fair Trade products, we support
workers making a fair wage, building community economies, education around the world,
and solidarity with workers and cooperatives around the world. With our work, we support
WIU’s theme of “Global Challenges, Personal Responsibility.”
