Welcome

How do computers affect writing and communication? How are they shaping our understanding of the world, from work to play? In this course, we investigate the vital role computers play in American culture, and use them for multiple kinds of writing. Our framework will be sixteen concepts which I believe are critical for understanding computers and writing. 10/19: Based on course evaluations and the way things have been going so far, I have made some changes to our syllabus.

10/7: Add Fangs to your Firefox extensions; it’s a great tool for accessibility evaluation.

10/5: I have posted the first major assignment, “Writing Online.”

9/26: This week we’ll do group work in the wiki. You should make an account and read the help soon. See the course wiki page for help.

9/16: Here&rsquos; two good CSS references: one from W3Schools, and a metareference from dezwozhere.

9/14: If you’re looking for colors for your web pages, try this interactive color picker and scheme generator or this color palette generator.

9/2: I suggest you get Firefox, the Web Developer Extension, and WinSCP for your home computer. I wrote directions for installing and using WinSCP with the ECOM server.
