• Svetlana S. Miroshnikova's help for uploading Web pages to ECOM using file transfer protocol (FTP) or Microsoft FrontPage.
• The Networked Writing Environment (NWE) has excellent web help pages, which include basic information about the Web and resources for authoring as well. Some information is specific to the NWE, but much applies to the Web in general.
• Greg Ulmer’s companion Web site for Internet Invention.
• Useful diagrams about apparatus theory on Ulmer’s site.

Books on reserve at the Malpass Library

• Robin Williams’s design books—mentioned in Chapter 12 of the Anderson book. To get the full story, check out the following books, which are simply top-notch:
  • Non-designer‘s design book : design and typographic principles for the visual novice (1995). Contains the nifty CRAP principles, plus many examples which explain them well.
  • Robin Williams Web design workshop (with John Tollett and David Rohr, 2002). A nifty problem/solution oriented book which I seriously considered assigning for this class. If you have specific problems to solve, see if Williams has tackled them before you reinvent the wheel.
